Video Clips - Vintage Drag Racing
This is the second page of videos from my collection of 8mm films. These are from various events that I attended as a spectator from the late 1960s through the early 1970s. There are some rare and exciting shots here for your enjoyment.
Distant Thunder Introduction
Another long video, this time a collage of NHRA racing from 1966 to 1975. It is the introductory piece for a DVD that is being produced to feature all the footage from the events that these were taken from. Set to the famous Drag City song by Jan & Dean.
The following are some clips of drag racing in the 60s and 70s. Enjoy them if you have a broadband connection!
Paul Longenecker has one of the early Blowovers of a rear-engined dragster at the 1973 Popular Hot Rod Meet.
Also at the 1973 Pop Rod Meet, a classic run by Jungle Jim Lieberman and his companion Jungle Pam.
Dragster highlights from the '66 and '69 NHRA Nationals, features the Ramchargers, Danny Ongais, Don Garlits, John Mulligan, and many others not identified.
This extended Drag Highlights film has some good shots from the 1960s, including an old-style match race between a couple of the original Mopar Funny Cars that started the whole thing (back when funny cars were really funny-looking stock cars).
I hope that you enjoy the videos, and please check back later for more additions.
